The method of election of the active station from among two stations makes use of an identifier or token held in permanent memory in each station. The token can take two states: present or absent. The token passes from the present state to the absent state when the other station becomes operational, and from the absent to the present state when the other station becomes non-operational. The station becoming operational is elected immediately as the active station if the token is in the present state in its permanent memory, and after is elected after a delay if its token is in the absent state. |
