<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink, ink set and ink cartridge capable of obtaining high density images, giving excellent durability of images and excellent in ink stability with the lapse of time. <P>SOLUTION: The black ink has ≤20% rate of change ΔAbs of absorbance defined below when performing time-lapse test of the ink under conditions below. Conditions of time-lapse test: ink is circulated at 75°C for 24 h. Definition of rate of change ΔAbs of absorbance: Abs<SB>1</SB>; absorbance (Abs) when diluting ink before time-lapse test and measuring absorbance with a spectrophotometer, Abs<SB>2</SB>; absorbance (Abs) when measuring absorbance of ink after time-lapse test in the same way, ΔAbs; rate of change (%) of absorbance defined as ΔAbs=100×(Abs<SB>1</SB>-Abs<SB>2</SB>)/Abs<SB>1</SB>.
