<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing system, which make connected external equipment simply operable. <P>SOLUTION: This printer 100, to which a host 400 and a scanner 500 are connected, prints information on a label 320. The printer comprises a data port 118 for transmitting/receiving data to/from the host 400, a status port 120 for transmitting/receiving data to/from the scanner 500, and a control part 102 for analyzing the data received by the data port 118. When the control part 102 determines that the received data are associated with the operation of the scanner 500, the data port 118 transmits the data on the operation of the scanner 500, which are received by the data port 118, to the scanner 500. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
