<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an apparatus capable of reliably controlling the exposure by an engine controller side to reduce the effects of white gaps so as not to degrade the image quality without influence of the printer controller functions. <P>SOLUTION: The exposure processing means using an image forming element allots the exposing time by turning the polygon mirror at double speed to irradiate the image forming element. Or it reduces the speed of the photo conductor when the polygon mirror cannot be turned at high speed. Further, when it has two or more image forming elements, it reduces the transfer speed and divides the image forming elements into two groups, i.e. for forming the image gradation data and for exposing, and repeats exposing with a predetermined light amount after or before exposing by the inputted image gradation data. Thus, it can obtain high quality images by stabilizing the surface potential of the photosensitive drum without incurring inferior images due to white gaps. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
