PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device management system capable of surely transmitting, even in case that state information such as error is transmitted to equipment limited in a received character number such as a portable terminal by e-mail, the state information to a user of the portable terminal. SOLUTION: This network device management system 1 comprises network devices 101-103, a desktop PC 111 to which an error state is reported from the network devices by e-mail; and a mail (SMTP) server 112. A LAN 100 is connected to an Internet line 120 to which the portable terminal 114 is connected. The desktop PC 11 generates an error message according to an error state for each network device to be monitored, and transmits an e-mail formed by processing for forming e-mail data with character number limitation to the portable terminal 114 that is a transmitting destination.
