PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator using a wire made of shape memory alloy, whose life in terms of repeated operation is prolonged by reducing stress generated in the wire of the actuator. SOLUTION: By energizing the 1st wire 21 made of shape memory alloy when the actuator is in a 1st state shown by figure (a), the wire is contracted to memory shape so that tensile force is generated, and a driving member 11 moves in a direction shown by an arrow (a) and pushes down a driving object 17 in a direction shown by an arrow (b), whereby the actuator gets in a 2nd state shown by figure (b). By stopping energizing the wire 21 and energizing the 2nd wire 22 made of shape memory alloy, the wire 22 is contracted to memory shape so that tensile force is generated, and the driving member 11 moves in an opposite direction to the direction shown by the arrow (a), whereby the pushing-down amount is decreased and the driving object 17 ascends to restore the actuator in the 1st state. The stress generated by energizing the wire 22 is increased because the force of a tension spring 25 is added, but the stress generated by energizing the wire 21 is decreased by an amount equivalent to the force of the tension spring 25, so that the life in terms of the repeated operation is prolonged.
