PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to photograph a still picture during the photographing of a moving picture without causing the user a feeling of strangeness. SOLUTION: When photographing of a still picture is instructed during photographing of a moving picture, data of a format containing, as illustrated in (B), image identification information for identifying data of a specific still picture which is photographed when photographing of a still picture is instructed, in moving picture data under photographing and recording on a recording medium, and not containing real image data (refer to (A)) are recorded on the recording medium as data of the relevant still picture. When display of the still picture is instructed, real image data (data of the specific still picture) are acquired from the moving image data and displayed according to the image identification information and when moving or copying the data of the still picture to another recording medium, as illustrated in (C), the real image data acquired from the moving image data are added to the data of the still picture, converted to an ordinary format and then outputted.
