PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter lockup damper device housed in a torque converter and realizing high transmission efficiency by eliminating power loss caused by friction with a piston following the expansion deformation of a damper spring. SOLUTION: The lockup damper 1 sandwiches an intermediate member 12 in a gap formed between the piston 5 and a plate 21 to enable spacers 7, 7... to rotate as a guide, and is formed with intermediate supports 11, 11... protruding outward in the intermediate member 12, while the intermediate supports 11, 11.. are nearly U-shaped. The intermediate supports 11, 11... are located between the damper springs 10, 10... interlinked in series to abut against the ends of the damper spring 10, 10.... A cap 13 is intervened between the damper spring 10 and the intermediate support 11 to position the damper spring 10 so as not to be in contact with an outer circumferential surface and internal surface of the piston.
