PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the valve opening speed of a choke valve fast immediately after the start of engine warm-up operation and slow as coming to the end of warm-up operation in an auto choke device of a carburetor. SOLUTION: A wax type auto choke device includes: a movable cylinder 31; a fixed piston 33 slidably supported on the cylinder with one end thereof projected outside the movable cylinder 31; and a wax 35 sealed in the movable cylinder 31, wherein the movable cylinder 31 is slidably stored with the outer end of the fixed piston 33 abutted on the inner surface of the bottom 30b' in a closed-end cylindrical housing 30 fitted to an engine E to constitute a temperature sensitive part 25, and an output part 26 is connected to the movable cylinder 31. The housing 30 is composed of a thermal good conductive first part 30a having a bottom 30a' and a thermal insulating second part 30b connected to the open end of the first part 30a, and the movable cylinder 31 causes the transition from the first part to the second part 30b side according to the thermal expansion of the wax 35.
