The mechanism has a housing which supports the two shafts and encloses a coupling movable between engaged and disengaged positions. A plug is mountable into an opening formed to the housing, and is movable between two locking positions to selectively lock the coupling at the engaged position or the disengaged position. At the engaged position, the coupling connects the shafts to each other. At the disengaged position, the coupling disconnects the shafts from each other.
