Provided are a translation device capable of translation based on correct syntax, as well as a syntax evaluation device, syntax evaluation method, and syntax evaluation program that are applied to the translation device. A syntax evaluation unit 13 is provided with: a grammatical component estimation part 131 for estimating grammatical components that should be connected after, or before and after, a word string indicated by first fragment data; and a grammatical component supplementing part 132 for generating second fragment data by supplementing the first fragment data as needed on the basis of the estimation result of the grammatical component estimation part 131. When a grammatical component is estimated by the grammatical component estimation part 131, the grammatical component supplementing part 132 generates the second fragment data by supplementation in which a tag indicating that grammatical component is inserted at a position where that grammatical component should connect to the word string indicated by the first fragment data. When no grammatical component is estimated by the grammatical component estimation part 131, the grammatical component supplementing part 132 generates the first fragment data as the second fragment data.
