A power converter includes a plurality of first conversion cells, a plurality of second conversion cells, and a plurality of DC link capacitors. Each of the DC link capacitors connects one of the first conversion cells to one of the second conversion cells. A defect management unit detects a defective conversion cell and deactivates the defective conversion cell while managing a power conversion operation of the power converter.
