摘要 <p>#CMT# #/CMT# Liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal panel with a substrate having a display region (DR) in which data lines (DL1-DL3) and gate lines (GL1-GL3) are located. A gate control circuit (GC) is placed in a substrate`s non-display region and is supplied by high and low gate voltages (VGH, VGL), gate start pulse (GSP), odd and even gate pulse signals (GPO, GPE) to provide a gate voltage to pixels (P) connected to the lines in the region (DR). #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a display device. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# For displaying images. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The gate control circuit is formed in the non display region of the liquid crystal panel during the manufacturing of the panel, so that the requirement of separate integrated circuits of gate controls and separate process for connecting the integrated circuits to the panel are avoided. The liquid crystal display device is thus manufactured in a simple manner and the manufacturing cost of the device is reduced. The gate pads are not required since the gate control integrated circuits are not required, thus reducing the zones for gate pads and hence reducing the parts placed at the periphery of the panel.
