PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus, an image processing method, an image processing program and a computer readable recording medium, in which the image processing program is recorded, which can enhance the quality of an output image and reduce the storage capacity for storing threshold. SOLUTION: A density region discrimination section 261 discriminates to which of a plurality of pixel groups a target pixel is included. When the target pixel is included in a pixel group not storing a corresponding threshold matrix, a simulation pixel value arithmetic section 262 calculates a simulated pixel value , a threshold processing section 263 carries out threshold processing on the basis of the stored threshold matrix and the simulated pixel value and outputs an output pixel value. A revision section 264 revises the output pixel value outputted from the threshold processing section into another output pixel value cross-referenced with the output pixel value and provides an output of the result.
