PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and its communication band control method for effectively utilizing a non-used communication band by judging a congestion state and dynamically changing a transmission data rate. SOLUTION: A communication apparatus 10 transmits/receives communication data divided into data frames and comprises: a data frame monitoring section 11 for totalizing a transmission data amount and received PAUSE frames at the interval of a predetermined parameter detection term; a parameter storage section 12 for storing the transmission data amount and the number of times of PAUSE frame reception totalized for each parameter detection term in the data frame monitoring section 11; and a band allocation processor section 13 for determining a novel transmission data rate based on the transmission data amount and the number of times of PAUSE frame reception stored in the parameter storage section 12.
