PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when any external factor changes, counterfeit coin removing performance is deteriorated. SOLUTION: This coin discriminating device is provided with a coin input port 121, a path 125 connected to the input port 121, identification sensors 31a, 31b and 31c arranged in the path 125, detecting means 32a, 32b and 32c connected to the identification sensors 31a, 31b and 31c for detecting the features of the coins, a memory 34 for storing a determination range being the decision criteria of the authenticity and denomination of coins, a comparing means 33 for comparing the decision range stored in the memory 34 with the outputs of the detecting means 32a, 32b and 32c and a deciding means 35 for deciding the authenticity and denominations of the coins based on the comparison result of the comparing means 33. A learning means 37 is arranged between the decision means 35 and the memory 34, and the decision range stored in the memory 34 is extended/contracted by the learning means 37.
