PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a compound represented by the formula: CF<SB>2</SB>ClCFClCOF in a high yield and in high purity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the compound represented by the formula: CF<SB>2</SB>ClCFClCOF is characterized by reacting a compound represented by the formula (1A): Q<SP>1</SP>(COO-CX<SP>1</SP>X<SP>2</SP>-CX<SP>3</SP>Cl-CX<SP>4</SP>X<SP>5</SP>Cl)<SB>n</SB>[Q<SP>1</SP>is a n-valent fluorine-containing organic group; (n) is an integer of≥1; X<SP>1</SP>to X<SP>5</SP>are each independently H or F, provided that at least one of X<SP>1</SP>to X<SP>5</SP>is H], or the like, with fluorine in a liquid phase to obtain a compound represented by the formula (2): Q<SP>f1</SP>(COO-CF<SB>2</SB>CFClCF<SB>2</SB>Cl)<SB>n</SB>(Q<SP>f1</SP>is the same group as Q<SP>1</SP>or a fluorinated n-valent fluorine-containing organic group), and hydrolyzing this ester compound represented by the formula (2).
