<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose acylate film which, when incorporated in a liquid crystal display, can reduce the generation of display failures at the time of displaying black. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose acylate film is provided, which is formed by melt casting of a cellulose acylate resin, whose density is 1.240 g/cm<SP>2</SP>-1.350 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, and whose retardation (Rth) in the thickness direction is 100 nm-800 nm.
