PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an environment in which a user can operate document data with a feeling as if picking it up by associating with the document data (document ID) the operation of arranging a user of electronic papers EP that display and retain documents.

SOLUTION: When a plurality of electronic papers EP are arranged adjacent to each other, their adjacent relationship is detected and the document ID of each document displayed and retained is obtained from each electronic paper. For each electronic paper, the adjacent relationship is associated with the document ID to create ID data 44. The ID data 44 are integrated with relationship data 53 by a management device 50 and all the document data associated with one another according to the adjacent relationship of the electronic papers are managed in association with the arrangement of the electronic papers and a document image 64 is displayed on a screen 62 while reflecting the arrangement relationship of the electronic papers.
