<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for a railroad car capable of generating buckling strength as required without a drop in the buckling strength due to buckling between spot welding points or an initial strain. <P>SOLUTION: A side structure 2 has an outer plate 6 and its reinforcing members 7A and 7B to be joined with the inside of the outer plate 6. The reinforcing member 7A (7B) is formed as having a hat-shaped section. The spacing L1 of laser welding on the reinforcing member 7A is 80 mm in the position near a window opening, while the hat width L2 is made 50 mm. In the other positions, the spacing of laser welding is 100 mm, while the hat width of the reinforcing member 7B is made 70 mm.
