PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a preform for a composite material not obstructed in the impregnation with a resin because foreign matter different from the constituent fibers or resin matrix of fiber base materials is not used at the time of temporary bonding of the fiber base materials constituting the preform and not lowered in the in-plane strength of the fiber base materials because the fiber base materials are not damaged like a needle punching method at the time of temporary bonding, that is, causing no lowering of strength in a stage that the composite material is manufactured, and the preform for the composite material. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the preform for the composite material comprising reinforcing fibers, a plurality of sheetlike fiber base materials 1 and 1 comprising a knitted fabric, a fabric or a braided material are laminated in the thickness direction of the fiber base materials and repeatedly compressed in the thickness direction thereof to be temporarily bonded to manufacture the preform for the composite material.
