PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a V-belt type continuously variable transmission for a compact vehicle capable of being miniaturized by reducing an axial dimension and a weight of a primary shaft to be properly loaded on the compact vehicle. SOLUTION: In this V-belt type continuously variable transmission 100 for a motorcycle wherein a belt 5 is wrapped around a groove width variable primary sheave 3 and a secondary sheave 4, a groove width adjusting mechanism 7 comprises a movable flange adjusting mechanism 10 for converting the rotation of an electric motor 8 into the axial force by a feed screw mechanism 12 coaxial with a primary shaft 1, and applying the axial force as moving thrust to a movable flange 3A of the primary sheave 3, and a compression coil spring 20 for energizing the movable flange 3A of the primary sheave 3 in the direction of narrowing the groove width of the primary sheave 3. The feed screw mechanism 12 of the movable flange adjusting mechanism 10 is positioned to be overlapped to the axial direction of the primary shaft 1 at an outer peripheral side of the compression coil spring 20.
