PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus which is not inclined when a lens is moved in the optical axis direction, by using an electrostrictive actuator as a means for moving the lens in the optical axis direction. SOLUTION: An optical apparatus (1) is provided with a band-shaped electrostrictive actuator (6) having electrode layers formed on both faces of a flexible insulating film and a lens unit comprising a lens holder (7) which is moved in the optical axis direction by an expanding/contracting operation in the optical axis direction of the electrostrictive actuator (6). The electrostrictive actuator (6) is brought into contact with the lens unit (the lens holder 7) along its peripheral direction. The lens unit (the lens holder 7) is uniformly pushed in the optical axis direction by the electrostrictive actuator (6) and is moved in the optical axis direction without inclining.
