PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cord whose ends have strengthened adhesiveness and whose separation from the ends of the cord is prevented to improve the durability of the cord, and to provide a pneumatic tire. SOLUTION: This cord formed by twisting high strength steel filaments 11 and brass filaments 12. The pneumatic tire using carcasses extended in a toroid state as a skeleton between a pair of bead members and having a belt layer in the tire radial direction outside the carcasses is characterized by using the above-mentioned cords for the carcasses or belt layer.
