PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recycle waste polystyrene disposed in a large amount as fuel oil for a diesel internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This method for producing the fuel oil is provided by mixing at least one of waste edible oil and kerosene to a decomposition-produced oil obtained by thermally decomposing the waste polystyrene, having≤200°C boiling point and consisting mainly of single ring aromatic compounds for adjusting its cetane index and kinematic viscosity into a range required as the fuel oil for the diesel internal combustion engine.
