PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acrylic emulsion having high cohesive power and giving a film having high tensile strength by drying and forming in the form of a film and provide an acrylic emulsion produced by the method. SOLUTION: The method for the production of an acrylic emulsion comprises the redox polymerization of ethylene and a monomer containing a (meth)acrylic acid ester in the presence of an emulsifying dispersion agent consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol or composed mainly of a polyvinyl alcohol, at least one kind of reducing agent selected from formamidinesulfinic acid, thiourea dioxide and their derivatives, and an oxidizing agent generating an alkoxy radical.
