PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a 4-acyloxy(or hydroxy)phenyldialkylsulfonium compound used as an epoxy hardening initiator, wherein a high purity is required, through a simple method without causing corrosion of a reaction vessel. SOLUTION: In a preparation method of the 4-acyloxy(or hydroxy)phenyldialkylsulfonium compound, a 4-acyloxy(or hydroxy)phenylalkylsulfonium salt is subjected to salt exchange by using an acetate as a solvent in the presence of calcium chloride and/or calcium bromide.
