PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod easy to grip a reel seat in fishing manipulation. SOLUTION: The fishing rod has the following construction: An opening 9 is formed on the face opposite to the reel leg-attaching part of the cylindrical reel seat 5. The opening 9 is fitted with a covering element 8 made of a flexible elastic material to cover the opening 9. The reel seat 5 fitted with the covering element 8 is externally engaged and fixed on a predetermined position of a base rod 2 and the inner surface of the covering element 8 and the outer circumferential surface of the base rod 2 are bondedly fixed together.
