<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an integrated circuit for an imaging element that are applied to, for example, video cameras for recording moving picture imaging results, electronic still cameras, and monitoring devices or the like so as to effectively utilize a high degree of freedom of reading imaging results being features of CMOS solid-state imaging elements or the like thereby simplifying the entire configuration and surely attaining rate control. <P>SOLUTION: A wire layer formed on the side of an imaging means 3 opposite to an imaging side connects the imaging means 3 and an image compression means 6 to integrate them, a data compression rate for compressing data of at least a succeeding block by a code amount generated by compressing data of an imaging result S1 in the unit of blocks is made variable, and the imaging result S1 by each photoelectric conversion section is outputted from the imaging means 3 so as to cope with the processing in the unit of blocks. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
