PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate occurrence of a leakage current due to a conductive foreign matter interposed between a contact hole of a TFT substrate and a counter electrode film of a CF substrate without bringing about lowering of productivity in a liquid crystal display device whose picture frame width on the outside of a display region is 3.5 mm or less. SOLUTION: The contact hole 4a formed on the outside of the display region of the TFT substrate 1 and the counter electrode film 24 formed on the CF substrate 2 are made not to overlap with each other in a plan view. Here, from the view point of completely preventing a short circuit due to the conductive foreign matter, the counter electrode film 24 is preferably formed on a position separated from an outer circumference of the contact hole 4a by 500μm or more in the plan view.
