PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally foamable sheet which can be produced from a general material such as pulp and can easily be subjected to post addition processes such as coating. SOLUTION: This thermally foamable sheet is characterized as follows. Thermally foamable microcapsules capable of foaming at a temperature of 80 to 250°C exist in a dispersed state in interfiber space portions existing in the sheet. The microcapsules are adhered to the fibers of raw material with a polymer adhesive component. An associated complex formed from polyethylene oxide and a specific associated complex-forming substance is contained as a component for improving product yield and filterability. The associated complex-forming substance includes urea, thiourea, tannic acid, ligninsulfonic acid, polymer carboxylic acids, sulfonated phenol, naphthol, and phenolic compounds. The polyethylene oxide to be added preferably has a mol. wt. in a range of 100,000 to 10,000,000. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
