PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a register ring incorporated structure of a chain tensioner capable of maintaining a state that the register ring is assembled in an initial set position at the time of assembly of the register ring or even thereafter in a chain tensioner having the register ring between a planger in a housing and a cylinder chamber. SOLUTION: A register ring incorporated structure of a chain tensioner in which a plunger 2 slidable in a housing 1 and a spring 3 for pressing the plunger 2 outward are incorporated, is provided with a retracting movement control means consisting of a annular engagement groove 2c of the plunger, a ring accommodation groove 9 in the inner peripheral surface of the housing and a register ring 6. An initial set mechanism 8 is provided between a projection end of the plunger and the housing. By setting smaller than the wire diameter of the register ring 6 a clearance between lock surfaces of the annular engagement groove adjacent to the initial set position of the plunger 2 and of the ring accommodation groove, a register ring set means for engaging the register ring with the annular engagement groove in the initial set position at the initial set is formed.
