<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric system capable of having stable authentication performance even in an environment less frequently used, which enables a learning with extended variations impartially to a specified environment. <P>SOLUTION: In this biometric system for specifying an individual by use of a facial image, an environment for inputting the facial image is preliminarily divided to one or more sections, the learning state at the time of registering or updating dictionary information is expressed by which section the learnt content is distributed to, and dictionary updating is performed while changing weighting according to the past learning state of an environmental section associated with the environment at the time of dictionary updating. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
