<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit reducing the light leaking phenomenon by making the distribution of luminance most appropriate and to provide a liquid crystal display using it. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit containing at least one lamp, two or more optical sheets 54, 56 and 58 positioned on at least one lamp and provided with micro-lens sheets is provided. The backlight unit is provided with one or more backlight units 52, a first polarizer 72 provided with a plurality of sheets 54, 56 and 58, is positioned on a first substrate and has a first polarization axis, a second polarizer 74 positioned on a bottom part of a second substrate facing the first substrate and with a second deflecting stem crossing the first polarization axis and the light irradiates a liquid crystal panel 60 provided with a liquid crystal layer between the first and the second substrates in the liquid crystal display of a direct type backlight structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
