PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a surface deformation and eccentricity of a rotating polygon mirror occurring when the mirror is fixed on a scanner motor. SOLUTION: The deflection scanner is provided with: a light source part; a focusing means which has a scanner motor which deflects and scans a light beam from the light source part and a rotating polygon mirror, and focuses the deflected light beam onto a face to be scanned; an optical box to mount all these units; and a lid member to hermetically close the optical box. The rotating polygon mirror has a reflection face part and a holding part which is separated from the reflection face part in a rotary axis direction, and is fixed on the scanner motor with the holding part.
