PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reproducing technique capable of appropriately performing motion image reproduction by high-quality composite image in synthesizing a plurality of frame images to be sequentially photographed. SOLUTION: The image pickup device can photograph at a high-speed frame rate of three times a frame rate of motion image reproduction. When this image pickup device photographs a motion image, a photographing operation is repeated while a focusing condition is changed in a three stages concerning, for example, a focusing position of a main object, thereby sequentially acquiring three kinds (a-c sequences) of frame images and recording the acquired images. In reproduction, the frame images of designated two sequences or three sequences are sequentially composited and reproduced on a display unit at a frame rate of 30 fps (time interval between frames is 33.3 ms).
