PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic machine in which the occurrence of a maximum area of hydraulic-pressure pulsation occurring in the flow path in the downstream of a runner in a draft tube is inhibited. SOLUTION: The outside of the draft tube 9 is allowed to communicate with the flow path in the downstream of the runner. A control valve 17 is provided in a water-supply pipe 15. Unstable vibration in the draft tube 9 is detected by an unstable-vibration detector 16. The control valve 17 is opened by detection signals to discharge high-pressure water 18 in the flow path in the downstream of the runner. A spiral swirl 11 formed in the flow path in the downstream of the runner is forced down to the downstream to inhibit occurrence of the maximum area in the hydraulic pressure pulsation.
