PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of detecting a failure of at least either of an image pickup means and a processing means for applying prescribed processing to an image pickup signal outputted from the image pickup means. SOLUTION: The failure discrimination of an image pickup system in a digital still camera is executed. The image pickup system includes an image pickup element 1, a driver 2, a TG/SSG circuit 3, a CDS/AGC circuit 4, and an A-D conversion circuit 6. When one of elements or circuits constituting the image pickup system fails to operate properly, a dark current does not become a signal exceeding a prescribed level. Therefore, it is discriminated whether the value of the dark current exceeds the prescribed level (preset threshold Vth) or not in the failure discrimination. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
