PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life light emitting element where low voltage driving, high brightness, and high efficiency can be attained even in an organic EL element using a phosphorescence emitter, and a display apparatus. SOLUTION: The light emitting element includes an anode and a cathode and an organic light emitting layer sandwiched between the anode and the cathode, The organic light emitting layer is composed of a host material and at least a kind of a dopant, and the difference of electronic affinity between the host material and at least a kind of the dopant is not more than 0.3 eV, and the difference of ionization potential between the host material and the dopant is not more than 0.8 eV.
