PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which can surely avoid occurrence of defects such as distortion of a recording medium due to heat of a platen by exactly judging a timing whereat the temperature of the platen is decreased. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder is equipped with a recording head 10 which carries out recording by discharging ink to the recording medium P; the platen 2 which supports the recording medium P from the rear face side and heats the recording medium P; a heater 3 which heats the recording medium P and temperature controls the platen 2; a buffer memory 20 which temporarily stores before recording, printing data that is to be recorded to the recording medium P; a detecting means 19 which detects whether or not unrecorded printing data is present on the buffer memory 20; and a control part 13 for temperature controlling and managing the heater 3. The control part 13 judges by a signal from the detecting means 19 whether or not the unrecorded printing data is present on the buffer memory 20 and lowers the temperature of the heater 3 if it judges that there is no unrecorded printing data.
