PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a drying time and to effectively suppress the development of foaming by devising irradiating conditions of microwave in drying of a coating film by utilizing microwave radiation. SOLUTION: This method comprises a coating process for coating a coating object 1 with a water-based coating material to form a wet coating film 3 on the coating object 1 and a microwave irradiation process for irradiating the wet coating film 3 with microwaves while controlling the microwave output so as to be within a range of 100 to 500 W.
