<p>An ottoman device for a vehicle, comprising a gas cylinder (an energizing mechanism) (12) always energizing an ottoman (3) to a use position, wherein when the lock of the ottoman at the storage position is released by a lock mechanism formed of a lock plate (16) and an operating lever (20), the ottoman (3) is automatically moved to the use position by the energizing force of the gas cylinder (12). The ottoman (3) is re-locked by the lock mechanism (16) and (20) at the use position, and an occupant can put the legs on the ottoman (3) for use. When the lock of the ottoman at the use position is released by the lock mechanism (16) and (20), theottoman can be returned to the original storage position. Since an electric drive mechanism is not used, the ottoman can be simplified in structure and is advantageous in assemblability and cost. Since the gas cylinder (12) is used as the energizing mechanism, the device can be installed also in a small space under a seat cushion (1).</p> |
