<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antioxidant derived from a natural product that can be mass-produced from safe natural raw materials at a low cost and exhibits a superior antioxidant effect. <P>SOLUTION: This antioxidant comprises a component derived from green algae belonging to genus Chlamydomonas as an active ingredient. Preferably the green algae belonging to the genus Chlamydomonas is a genus Chlamydomonas W80 strain (FERM P-18474). The component derived from the green algae is a green algae cell itself or an extract from the green algae cell using an extraction solvent selected from the group consisting of water, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, methanol, ethanol and mixtures thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
