<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintenance against defective paper conveyance. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a reference timing (reference trigger) for stopping the paper and an elapsed time after the reference timing are inputted, and when instructions to start a processing are given, it is confirmed whether an operation set as the reference timing is performed, and as the operation is performed, a timer is started. Thereafter, when the timer is timed up after a lapse of set time, the paper is stopped (steps 100 to 118). Thus, the paper is accurately stopped in an optional position on the carrying path, and also, the cause of the defective conveyance is estimated according to the condition of the paper which is stopped, then, the maintenance is efficiently and appropriately performed, and which prevents the operation efficiency of the apparatus from being drastically reduced because of the maintenance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
