<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator capable of rapidly generating gas for inflating an airbag after the operation is started with lightweight and simple structure of the gas generator. <P>SOLUTION: In the gas generator for the airbag, the ratio (A/P) of the total surface area A (cm<SP>2</SP>) of a gas generating agent to the output P (Pa) of an ignition means is ≤6×10<SP>-5</SP>cm<SP>2</SP>/Pa, where A (cm<SP>2</SP>) is the total surface area of the gas generating agent stored in a combustion chamber before combustion, and P (Pa) is the output of the ignition means when it is operated under the environmental temperature of 20°C in a hermetic container having the volume of 10 cc in which neither physical change nor chemical change occurs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
