<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user at a host device side to use a unified user interface for user operation and setup operation in a communication device without any limitations to an interface for accessing the communication device. <P>SOLUTION: On a local interface 23 comprising USBs, or the like between a computer 21 and the communication device 22, an IP network communication path is generated by using PPP (Point to Point Protocol), or the like, and communication is made with the computer 21 via the IP network communication path. The computer 21 uses a general-purpose network application, such as a WEB browser, to access the resources of the communication device 22 via the local interface 23.
