PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of selectively acquiring effective information to a network element concerned with a user so as to monitor only a selected network element. SOLUTION: In one embodiment disclosed herein, the method for configuring a monitoring system for monitoring the selected network element is provided. The method automatically finds out one network or more on a network, and generates identification data for identifying the one network element or more. The method generates identification data of a revised version in response to the user entry and monitors each of the network elements identified by the identification data of the revised version.
