PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium with a limited reproduction term, which may be used after the expiration of the term. SOLUTION: The optical disk is provided with a ROM area 201 in which information cannot be read out after the lapse of a prescribed time, a ROM area 202 in which the recorded information can be indefinitely read out, and a rewritable read/write area 203. Information on a decryption key for decrypting the encrypted contents information is recorded on the ROM area 201.
