PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design support method which determines the best solution to an effect which is an issue in product development, and a system therefor. SOLUTION: The design support method is provided with; a storage step in which data comprising at least subjects, problems and effects, solutions and risks are stored as a database, the data being preliminarily and hierarchically deployed; and an extraction-presentation step in which when the phenomenon of poor quality or defect occurs in designing a new design, a subject conforming to the phenomenon of poor quality or defect is selected from a subject list which is read out from the database and displayed on a screen, and the problem and effect relating to the selected subject, solutions to the problems and effects, and risks relating to the solutions are extracted from the database to display at least the solutions and the risks on the screen, and then the best solution is extracted from the solutions thus displayed based on the evaluation of the risk to each solution and the evaluation of restrictive conditions for executing each solution, and displayed on the screen.
