PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray detection system having a photo-detector having a satisfactory light utilization factor and also to provide an X-ray CT system provided with such an X-ray detection system. SOLUTION: In the X-ray detection system for converting X-rays into light at a scintillator and detecting it at the photo-detector, the photo-detector is provided with a plurality of light receiving elements (542) aligned in such a way that light receiving surfaces of a regular hexagons may form a honeycomb-like two-dimensional array. The two-dimensional array is a cylindrically curved flat array. The light receiving elements are backlit type silicon photodiodes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
